Our squished up little guy :)

We had our 36 wk appt this morning. He is measuring (give or take 1 lb) in the 50% percentile at 6 lbs. 3 oz. so our dr. is predicting about a 7 1/2 lb. baby... we'll see! The technician showed us a 3D shot of his face. It was so adorable to see. He sure is squished up in there! He is head down and ready to go :)
Big Sister Avery- Avery was so cute during the appt. She started enjoying the sonogram when the technician showed us the 3D pic. She said, "oh how wonderful!, I want to hold him?" and reached her arms up. I told her he would be here soon. She told the tech. that he was going to come out of mommy's tummy and would watch Ariel with her. She is talking about her baby brother A LOT these days & is enjoying many of his new toys & stuffed animals, blankets, crib, etc. She talks about my dr. and his nurse Jackie. It's really cute.

On another note- It was too funny what Avery did this morning. She usually calls for us in the morning when she wakes up but this morning she woke up and came into our room at 8:00. She said, "good morning mommy and daddy!" "i love you mommy and daddy." She was in this great mood & got in between us in bed and cuddled. It was pretty funny. I don't want these cuddle days to end.

Baby Room

Well the baby room is finished! Mom and dad came into town a few weeks ago and mom and I got a lot done- finished shopping for the room, washed baby boy clothes and went through all the baby girl clothes to get things organized for the next family member that has a girl. I have a ton of baby boy newborn clothes- I am very lucky to have a sister who passed down all her baby clothes to me and a good friend who's letting me borrow her son's old clothes and several pairs of shoes. My sister also threw me a surprise shower when she was in town about a month ago so I got some fun new boy stuff :) It's fun to see all the blue!
We are counting down the weeks for his arrival! I have been sick for over a week now, but am finally beginning to feel better. The nesting has kicked in so it has been hard not to feel like I need to get every little thing done around the house... and try to rest at the same time. Other than a few details we are pretty much ready for him to be here! Here are a few room pics including a 35 week belly shot. I am beginning to get pretty uncomfortable. I feel like he recently dropped because my hips are hurting & are popping when I roll over at night. We go Thursday for our 36 week sonogram & will get more of an idea how big he is & what position he is in... then we start our once a week visits!

2 year old.

(avery's drawing: she even included ears, hair, arms, and legs)

What's new with our almost 2 1/2 year old:
Avery has been a bit of a 2 year old lately & I just have not had the patience I usually do. I know it is probably a combination of her age & new baby on the way (and my lack of patience). I pray that the transition for her is not too rough and we can still make her feel loved and included when the baby gets here. I have pulled her out of MDO because she was crying about going and crying while there. She started to improve and enjoy it more after a few weeks but I decided with a new baby she could possibly regress again, it may be more work on me getting her there w/a newborn & picking up 3 hrs. later, and then also not wanting to expose the baby to all the germs she would bring home from school. So I am happy with my decision and have looked into 2 preschools for the fall that will be "preschool" versus MDO. With her missing the Sept. 1st cut off for 3 year old preschool I have limited options on where to send her if I want her in a 3 year old preschool program. Hopefully we will get into one of the two programs I am looking into.

Even with Avery's 2 year old moments we still have lots of fun with her, mainly laughing at all the funny things she says. We have just been amazed with her vocabulary and fluency lately. She repeats EVERYTHING we say so we have to be careful.
* some funny things she said this past weekend were, "that's ridiculous", and "chop, chop" and used them in the right context. Philip had asked her to get her shoes on for church and said, "come on avery chop, chop" so she picked that line up.
* She has many of her books memorized and can read them to us
* She also likes to quote lines from her movies, her favorite being Tinkerbell lines like- "You've heard of a dew drop, well this is a don't drop" and she pretends to pick up dew drops in the bathtub like Tinkerbell and have them pop. She also picked up the word stupid on there- not good, and uses that in context too... don't know why those cute movies have to say words like that.
* She talks about baby Drew a lot so I know she is very aware of what's going on. She rubs my tummy, gives him kisses and tells him she loves him- so sweet. Sometimes she's not so sweet and pushes on my belly or hits it- don't know if that is anger towards me or him?? hmmm.
* She LOVES to draw- like I posted on my last post, pictures of people are her favorite. She has impressed us w/how good her drawings are.
* She continues to be such a loving, affectionate little girl. She says, "I want to cuddle" or "it's cuddle time", "family hug." She likes to take care of Philip too & will call him "sweet pea" ha!
The other day Philip and I were hugging and she looked up at us (from drawing) and said, "oh are you guys being cute?!" We both just laughed.

Well that's probably enough for now. I need to post an update on the baby next and baby room ;)
