Sad

I had to post our favorite line Avery says these days. Her quote comes from the book, "Quick as a Cricket." For those who don't know this book, here are a few lines from the first few pages...
"I'm as quick as a cricket, I'm as slow as a snail... I'm as strong as an ox, I'm as weak as a kitten... I'm as sad as a basset, I'm as happy as a lark, etc...
Anyways, a few weeks ago Avery was crying and in the midst of her tears she said to us, "I'm as sad as a basset." Now she likes to say this a lot, probably from the reaction of laughter she got from us. We tell her, "Don't be sad as a basset, be happy as a lark."
A few other cute quotes:
Avery was cuddling with her daddy and I walked in and curled up next to Philip and said I want to cuddle with daddy. Avery told me, "No mommy it's not YOUR daddy!" I said he's not? she said, "no, papa's YOUR daddy."
Philip went in to get Avery the other morning when we heard her crying. He walked in and she said to him, "excuse me sir, did you wake me up?"
She just always makes us laugh with the things she says. I am trying to be better about writing them down but of course seem to forget and then forget them :( I should be better and keep a journal.

another baby

So the other day I ran down to my friend Stacy's to get something. She just had a baby, Milia, a few weeks ago. Avery was with me and when we got home she said, "Milia came out of Stacy's tummy!"
me- your right
avery- just like Dr. Macdonald took baby Drew out of your tummy
me- yes, that's right
avery- i want there to be another baby in your tummy
me- you do?!
avery- yes
me- do you want that baby to be a baby boy like Drew or a girl like Milia?
avery- a girl
me- that would be fun. what do you think daddy would say?
avery- daddy would like that.
When daddy got home from work he opened up a beer. I told him our conversation and said to him that I thought it would be fun to have another girl... he started drinking that beer a little faster :)

3 months!

Happy 3 months Drew!!
Drew is 3 months today. Wow how time flys! I was back at work right now when Avery was this age. I am SO happy to be home with my babies now. Thank you daddy for working so hard so I can be home! I am enjoying every minute of it. Drew is such an easy going baby that we are still able to get out most every day for play dates, trips to the pool, and we even went to a movie on Wednesday!
Right now he still eats and sleeps a lot. He loves to be on his mat and look up at the mirror we have attached to it. He bats at his toys, grasps objects (got Avery's hair the other day, she was not happy about that), laughs, smiles, babbles, and seems to want to learn how to roll over. He is not a fan of tummy time but still seems to have pretty good head control.
He is waking up once at night to eat then back down til 6:30/7 ish. I hear him just talking away in the mornings til we go in and get him.
He is beginning to watch Avery a lot, which is so fun to see. I am excited for when they can really play together. I know Avery is ready for the company.
We love our sweet baby Drew!

Drew at 2 months

We recently had Drew's 2 month check up. We ended up going closer to 2 1/2 months because we were in between insurances... anyways here are his stats:
weight- 15 lbs, 4 oz
height- 24 inches
He was around 93% for both weight and height!! We have ourselves a chunky little baby. Avery was 16 lbs at 6 MONTHS!! He is almost there at 3 months! Wow... will it taper off? Let's hope so or we could have a 20 pounder by 6 months, ha!

Avery- 2 1/2, Drew- 9 weeks

Our friend Trey took a few pictures of Avery and Drew the other week and these were my favorites. Thanks Trey!!

Avery and Drew

It looks like my blogging may become less and less these days... so sorry for the novels. I do like to keep up with highlights of what's going on with us to keep those of you who don't see us much up to date & I want to eventually print off all these blogs to look back on when my babies are no longer babies :(.
The past few weeks have gone great. Drew continues to be the sweetest little guy. We have his 2 month check up tomorrow. (which he will actually be 2 1/2 months but we have picked up new insurance which just started) When I weighed myself and then him with me about 2 weeks ago the difference was 14 lbs so I am interested what he will weigh tomorrow! Avery was 4 months before she weighed that much. He is sleeping really good now going from about 7:30 p.m- around 4 a.m then back down til 7:00 or so. Our family (minus the Macdonald's and Joanna) and Drew's Godparents are all coming up this weekend for his baptism.
Avery loves her baby brother. She has become very possessive over him... "no that's my baby brother." "don't touch my baby!", "no, don't touch his carseat." - some things she likes to tell her friends when they try to talk or play with him. It's sweet how much she cares for him but just like with all "her" things I want her to learn it's o.k for her friends to talk to him and touch his feet- to share her brother in these ways :) If we get ready to go somewhere she tells me she wants her baby to go too. She likes for him to read books and take baths with her. She continues to be a daddy's girl... she is SO lucky to have such an incredible hands on daddy, who loves her more than life itself.
I love my babies and feel so blessed! And I hear Drew so I better run... pictures to come!
